Empowering Communities Through Compassion and Service

In the heart of Wausau, Wisconsin, an organization stands as a beacon of hope and compassion—Greater Wausau Christian Services (GWCS). Committed to making a positive impact on the community, GWCS has been a driving force in providing support, assistance, and a helping hand to those in need. 


The organization operates on the belief that every individual deserves dignity, respect, and the opportunity to lead a fulfilling life. Grounded in Christian principles, GWCS strives to make a tangible difference in the lives of those facing challenges and adversity. One of the standout initiatives of GWCS is the Kids Kount program. This program focuses on providing Christmas gifts to children with incarcerated parents and increasing hope during the holiday season. Kids Kount is a testament to GWCS's dedication to nurturing the future generation.


2023 Kids Kount Results:

This year the program had the following impact.

  • 21 Families served

  • 46 children provided gifts (average about 4 presents each)

  • 5 teams of drivers delivered the gifts

  • 9 volunteers wrapped the gifts.

  • All gifts were delivered!

  • Very successful!

Jail Ministry Outreach

GWCS actively engages in community outreach efforts, collaborating with local church partners to address the spiritual needs of those in jail. Services provided include bible studies, the Breaking Barriers program which focuses on behavior change, mentorships, and more.


Eldercare Facility Outreach

Recognizing the importance of spiritual and emotional well-being, GWCS offers sensory services to those in Alzheimer care, church services held at the facility, bible studies, Chaplaincy services, and end of life services.

GWCS's community outreach initiatives have played a vital role in building stronger, more connected communities. GWCS has become a cornerstone of support for individuals and families facing various challenges.
